I remember when Ukraine (I think it was still early in the war against Russia) started doing the same shit the IDF is doing, like paying lgbtq+ people to make propaganda for Ukraine. Then the Ukrainians started losing really badly to the Russians, and then they removed these people from their positions.
They only care about minorities if they can be used as tools to push their imperialistic agenda.
I remember when Ukraine started detaining trans women trying to flee the conflict as draft dodgers because "all MEN have a duty to serve." Really made me realize everything some fucking lib would talk about how us ell gee bee teas really needed to get in line and support Ukraine against big bad homophobic russia.
We refuse the instrumentalization of our queerness, our bodies, and the violence we face as queer people to demonize and dehumanize our communities, especially in service of imperial and genocidal acts. We refuse that Palestinian sexuality and Palestinian attitudes towards diverse sexualities become parameters for assigning humanity to any colonized society. We deserve life because we are human, with the multitude of our imperfections, and not because of our proximity to colonial modes of liberal humanity. We refuse colonial and imperialist tactics that seek to alienate us from our society and alienate our society from us, on the basis of our queerness. We are fighting interconnected systems of oppression, including patriarchy and capitalism, and our dreams of autonomy, community, and liberation are inherently tied to our desire for self-determination. No queer liberation can be achieved with settler-colonization, and no queer solidarity can be fostered if it stands blind to the racialized, capitalist, fascist, and imperial structures that dominate us.

I cannot wait as queer rights around the world are eroded because of shit like this. As a coat of paint that imperialism is using they inevitably allow reactionary forces to point to the queer struggle in their own countries and call them forces of imperialist decadence. This is not only deeply fucked as you stand in a bombed out area acting like you've finally brought a piece of civilization to a barbarous people, you also create the conditions for continued queer oppression throughout the world because you've long since given up on queer liberation and now are okay with the meager scraps you've been given.
The co-opting of what was a riot against the cis police state, fighting for their right to exist, into something which is used by the most egregious police state on the planet as a pretext for a war of extermination is one for the history books.
