I've found a few random articles about it like a USA Today one but it wasn't very good. I'm assuming it's all because Mexico has an actual independence day they prefer to celebrate over this? Also feels like it was at one point, an actual celebration but has just become like every single other holiday and just commodified as shit? I see that Puebla, Mexico does sorta celebrate it at least
gotcha. yeah it feels like that but it was kinda hard to find legit critiques of it, especially right now where there is thousands of news articles talking about the holiday today. I was curious because it looked like was actually celebrated a long time ago here as an act of defiance i guess, but then i guess it stopped. And after many years it would make sense those beer companies and shit like Del Taco and Taco Bell would use it to capitalize on a day for advertising
