I've found a few random articles about it like a USA Today one but it wasn't very good. I'm assuming it's all because Mexico has an actual independence day they prefer to celebrate over this? Also feels like it was at one point, an actual celebration but has just become like every single other holiday and just commodified as shit? I see that Puebla, Mexico does sorta celebrate it at least

    Mexican Independence Day is September 16 for those that don't know. Cinco is just an excuse for white people to get drunk, really.
