just the show ending, the movie is 90 minutes and i dont have the attention span for it rn

that was actually really good. i expected complete fucking nonsense because of all the memes surrounding it, but i really liked it.

liked how the main theme was loneliness and how everything at its core stems from loneliness. some of the scenes really fucked me up

did bust out laughing at the congratulations scene though, that was a bit too cheesy for me ngl

Yeah the movie is incredible, I enjoyed both the show ending and the movie for different reasons but you can definitely see the extra time and money put into EoE, it's fucking beautiful.

Seconding EoE, it's good. You can skip the rebuilds though.

There are 4 movies (the 4th just came out in Japanese theatres so don't expect it to be available any time soon), which are all on one new timeline. IIRC the first is around the first half of the show redone with new animation and some CG, the second diverges heavily, and the third is an entirely new plot.

I recall seeing somewhere that the rebuilds were made to raise money for other projects he was actually interested in, and they definitely feel half-assed compared to the original + EoE. Still, if you really liked the show you might as well watch them.

And are they like alternate universe’s?

They're technically sequels in a weird fucking-with-causality sort of way, since they come after the apocalypse the series ends with but are also just the same shit happening again but a little different and then very different?

I persistently stand by the hot take that the rebuilds are actually better than the series because they're generally paced better and have a tighter narrative focus on the characters' internal problems instead of just the "yeah, like a bunch of shit happens and maybe they're sad or whatever, but it's mostly just mundane shit and big robots" of the original series.

    Omedato, Shinji :xi-clap:

I haven't seen the Rebuild movies, so I can't speak to those, but what I can definitely say is EoE is a must see. Maybe not tonight, maybe not even this weekend, but at some point in the next week you gotta watch End of Evangelion.

There's a reason people still talk about it. The movie is good, but you honestly don't need it. It explains stuff that didn't need to be explained and isn't the most clear at that, but it's still a very good movie. Gorgeous animation.
