I'm thinking specifically of imageboard anons who use it as a meme to dull the edge of their self-loathing and social isolation, but in general I think self-diagnosis is an important tool that can help people come to an understanding of themselves, and I think the more dangerous path is allowing the medical industrial complex to have the final say in constructing us (by which I mean all of us, including autists, neurotypicals, and other neurodiverse people).
