For me, after watching Matilda, I always wanted telekinesis. I think the movie really resonated with me for other, more substantial reasons, but I remember as a kid wishing that one of my high-stress situations would let me get those powers.

Edit - Fun fact: I had a sibling who stopped believing in God because they prayed for Wolverine claws as a kid, but didn't get them.

    :this:

    No more firestorms please.

I think part of it is that it's less flashy, and unless you include something like nature/plants (decidedly not earth) or metal, it doesn't have a unique 'creative' application like water -> healing.

    But earth is cool.

A lot of interpretations include plants and for some reason, poison. I just wanna punch the ground and make spikes come up

One of the coolest uses I've ever seen is from the game Sacrifice, the game is set on floating islands, and the strongest earth spell simply makes a chunk of the map fall off. Only flying units can go there anymore. You have a fairly close third-person camera and spells are pretty large-scale, so it's actually fucking frightening to see a football field sized hole just caving into open sky in front of you
