This is an odd predicament, and I'm currently not on state insurance so I can't afford to go to a doctor and ask. I currently have some sort of respiratory infection, no idea what it is unfortunately. I don't leave the house so it's not a big deal for infection's sake.
Anyways, whenever I get sick or have allergies at night, I start taking Hydroxyzine to sleep. Pretty much just a lighter Benedryl. Well, it's teal and dark blue, and so is Cephlaxin. Took some, thinking it was Hydroxyzine, was doing way better the day afterwards. But then saw my nightstand last night and realized that I definitely took Cephlaxin. Should I keep taking the anti-biotic (wasn't prescribed to me at all, for clarity) to complete the course? Or should I stop taking them now? I only took one dose, so normally I'd just say fuck it. However, I do actually have a respiratory infection right now, so I'm worried about opening th doorw. Thoughts?
Don't take any more. Unlikely to do any real damage, as long as you're not allergic, but it may give you the shits, and has no guarentee to work on your current respiratory illness.
That's what I was thinking. Didn't plan on taking anymore, but since I'm sick, I didn't want to spark a bunch of shit up from accidentally nuking my immune system. Especially when I know that antibiotics are plenty capable of fucking people when they're not finished. My side effects haven't been major, I didn't even notice until I was going to take my next dose of hydroxizine and saw how similar the pills looked. I figured someone on here has accidentally taken an antibiotic instead of an anti histamine.
And if it does give you diarrhoea, a probiotic drink should help. I usually have Yakult after going on antibiotics. But you might not have to worry about it as you've only had one.
Antibiotics often have substantial anti-inflammatory effects. If you felt better after taking it, it could be due to reduced inflammation rather than reduced bacterial infection.
Either way, one dose isn’t going to cause a problem for you, other than maybe having an abnormal BM later.
