    ...I mean Mickey is based on black face minstrel show stereotypes. Note the white gloves. Only one kind of racist caricature in American pop culture at the turn of the twentieth century wearing those.

    Goofy is transracial, trans species, and probably nonbinary for good measure too. Is there a canonical character more queer than Goofy?

        counterpoint to your counterpoint: Mickey first puts on white gloves to perform in a one-mouse vaudeville act in "Opry House" in 1929.

        Other characters afterwards probably were given glove hands to match his, but the origin is really unmistakable.

      Was going to mention the gloves thing (props to the editors of the Finnish Donald Duck magazine to mention that piece of Disney history in an article, it was pretty interesting to learn as a kid)

      How does Goofy's portrayal in Goof Troop factor into this

        There is no Mrs. Goofy in Goof Troop. Max was born through asexual reproduction and you can't convince me otherwise.
