They've been demanding that from Russia for the past year and a half, so I'm not surprised they're doing it here too. It's insane.
Also, even if all other hostages of unknown status were alive and well in some secret Hamas base, they’re asking Hamas to get rid of its only bargaining chip in exchange for an unreliable promise to possibly pull the knife out 1 nanometer as the knife of being denied human rights continues to push itself in under its own gravity
