it was all right until they started talking about AOC. BJG turns into a ryan knight when she gets on a rip about muh electoralism and complaining that the soc dems aren't doing a communism yet. felt kinda bad for chelsea. brie really laid into her for the crime of not caring too much about parliamentary strategy and having a cynical view of what 5 or 6 progressives could realistically accomplish in congress.

virgil is really carrying. he is either saying off the wall shit in his characteristically amusing way, or he is quiet until he finally chimes in to ask the right question or state what the socialist position actually is. not the epic matt stream-of-consciousness crazy-eyed insights, but at least on the mark usually.

it's kinda said, i really liked BJG until the force the vote thing broke her brain. even if she is lib. i don't think FTV was a bad idea, but it was a terrible plot.

it's like that fungus that infects cicadas and start pumping cathinones into their little bodies making them extremely more hypersexual. i mean, realistically there were going to get fucked for 4 weeks, then go underground another 17 years. but the fungus makes them just fuck until they starve and their limbs start falling off and they die straightaway. it's transmissible, too. (to cicadas) that's how i think of FTV. to the point BJG spent like 20 minutes raging at chelsea for not having a burning parasocial hatred of AOC. for what was otherwise a chill and good stream.

they were talking about doing legit twitch streams and playing games (well, virgil + chelsea), it think it might be better than the podcast if they move in that direction. i thought it was a joke, but apparently virgil really is something of a gamer. he's into the map games seems like. makes sense.

Imagine having Chelsea Manning on your show just to waste her time with FTV crap.

The cicadas that emerge do not go back underground, adults die. It is the nymphs that hatch from eggs that burrow back into the earth.

The worst part of that pod is it was seemly made for horse race electoral US politics. Won't be relevant until the midterms.

Eh, I agree with her. The problem I have is the left keeps trying to pretend it has a secret plan or that there is a "real left" just off somewhere to the side as a way to avoid taking responsibility for anything it does. Like if you think electoralism is dumb then ok but the left took all this money and time from people on the idea we were going to form a voting block. To then not care what any of the people the left elected actually do just makes the whole thing a clown show at best, and a scam that leeches off of poor people at worst.

There is about a year and some change left before the House swings back and stays that way probably until the next republican presidency. If there is no big push or change made with what we have now, if they aren't going to take the risk then it's going to be over for a least a decade. Sure something might arise later, but at that point the left as it exist now might as well dissolve because all it accomplished was wasting every single opportunity that came by while acting above it all.

I'm honestly done with people pretending like this. If someone is funded by self described leftist, promoted by them, endorsed by their organizations, etc. They are effectively the left. There is absolutely no point in running away from this because when you do it is ALL bullshit smoke and mirrors and the real "left" will always be whatever is most convenient in the moment. Kyle Kulinski explicitly said the point of the justice dems was to form a voting block, the entire strategy for the last 10 years only made any sense if leftist were willing to vote together on important issues.

And don't do that garbage with putting poor people in quotations. I am poor, I helped with this shit even when I probably couldn't afford to because I thought people were serious about accomplishing something.

I've been in this community for awhile and seeing people pretend we were not trying to build a voting block and not to expect anything from the orgs and people you were all telling people to donate to and help. . .is just pissing me off to the point where I really need to take a break from the people here before I go to far. Like take care but I'm honestly starting to fucking hate the people here.

Was this an explicit promise that anyone actually running made? Or was this just something people on the internet were batting around?

The feed I was subscribed to for Patreon episodes seems to have dried up. I know I can get them directly from the subreddit, but I want my slop in my feed reader app! Anyone have a working feed.

I'm thinking about CTH's split with Virgil from last week, that despite it saying it was mutual and amicable, that it still wasn't on good terms.

They didn't plug Bad Faith until Virgil's formal departure, nor did they discuss it prior or since on the podcast even when Virgil showed up. I'd like to see Virgil guest back, like Brendan James does, but his serious news and political analysis corner that is Bad Faith is very obviously in its exploratory-find-your-identity-and-audience phase.

she gets on a rip about muh electoralism and complaining that the soc dems aren’t doing a communism yet

I love all these #TheResistance socialists who are proudly admitting that they don't actually care about politics. If you're complaining about "Ryan Knight", you're probably an irrelevant online dork

having a cynical view of what 5 or 6 progressives could realistically accomplish in congress.

"We tried nothing and we're all out of options!" - educated DSA organizers who are mad that an uppity podcaster is stealing their power as PMC labor aristocrat careerists .

i really liked BJG until the force the vote thing broke her brain

"we should use our collective power as leverage against bourgeoisie" uhhh that's dumb you idiot

One of the weirdest things I’ve seen Online (TM) is people somehow suggesting FTV is a revolutionary Marxist opinion or something. FTV is about begging Nancy Pelosi to give us one more symbolic loss and using Medicare for All as a cudgel against the left.

The people who came up with FTV are not revolutionaries or Marxists. For fucks sake it was invented by a Tulsi Gabbard stan. No serious revolutionary would give these cosplayers the time of day.

like i said, it's not a bad idea, but it was turned into a whole crusade not just to force a vote, but also against anyone who wasn't participating in the crusade.
