That's from the same bad science (small sample size (1), not been reproduced) that fuels antivaxx nonsense. It's been brought up at least 20 times on this website, so you should know better.

I haven't seen it brought up since like months ago when that news first broke so I had no clue. Wouldn't antivaxxers want corona to come from a lab in wuhan to justify war with China?

Who cares, my only issue is propagandizing bad science and misinformation, so let's not join the ranks of antivaxxers.

Well I care. I don't want to push state department propaganda that wuhan came from a lab when I've yet to see solid evidence from a non-government org. afaik the theory that it came from a wet market still sounds solid.

I agree, I just meant the feelings of antivaxxers about Wuhan Lab Theory is a non sequitur to the European Origin Theory I see peddled here constantly based on that one water sample.

That's not the only evidence it was circulating before. Frankly I don't care about the origin, but "it may have circulated elsewhere prior to Wuhan" is both more supported and less ridiculous than the lab theory. Thinking it's possible is definitely not tantamount to anti-vaxx.

This is not true. They found Covid 19 antibodies all over Italy in 2019 in blood samples they collected for a different study. It was top notch researchers involved.

        From the study:

The Italian researchers’ findings, published by the INT’s scientific magazine Tumori Journal, show 11.6% of 959 healthy volunteers enrolled in a lung cancer screening trial between September 2019 and March 2020 had developed coronavirus antibodies well before February.

How is it sample size 1? I was under impression that in addition to the antibody studies, they looked for hospital admissions in China and Europe prior to the Wuhan outbreak.
