I wish Assad a happy presidency. This is something I'm posting very sincerely, not just out of fear of me getting owned online someday :side-eye-1:

      Critical support for anti-imperialism.

It's easy to misinterpret people joking around as outright liking something, he's problematic but he's the best thing for the region that currently exists and we have to be realists not moralisers that say "oh allllll sides are bad" because such a position ultimately only helps the strongest side (the US) which is going to result in far worse living standards for the people living there.

What the region needs is all military pulling out and allowing the Syrian people to peacefully develop. The US however wants the oil, which it has gained control of in the North East by doing deals with the Rojava anarchists.

Yeah at a certain point it just stops coming across as critical support and more just support. I dont see the point of celebrating an election with a foregone conclusion, dudes been in power forever.

Turning a dial labeled "Level of Critical Support for Assad" back and forth until it's at the exact point to make machiabelly happy

Because doing such things creates opportunities to have conversations like this one that act as education for new people who might be reading about why they should have critical support as principled anti-imperialists. If imperialism is the highest stage of capitalism then anti-imperialism is the highest stage of class struggle.

On one hand for the meme

On the other hand he's a force opposing US colonialism in the region

If you asked anybody seriously the most I think you'd find is critical support against the US while also still recognizing the issues he has. Similar to Iran's government being oppressive and right wing, but it receives support as it fights against US imperialism which would be overall worse.

Yeah it just comes across as more than critical sometimes, or maybe most of the time. Obviously anyone helping to get the USA out of the middle east is doing something good

The West has caused far more problems for the middle east and killed far more people than Assad ever did.

I guess I dont trust an election result with 90%. That says more about the opposition than the one running. Maybe I'll look up different data about his approval ratings later. If they're high I might feel different.

I was joking lol. The country's in the middle of a war and opposition candidates are suppressed. Support for Assad around here is purely critical: his country is under attack by imperialism.

It is very simple , there has been 10 years of war against him...! 10 !

You dont survive 10 years of war if you dont have popular support.

Your question actually is wierd if you think about it .....

If 10 years of war are still not enough for you would 20 be ? 30 ? What the fuck is your problem ...

Ask yourself better how much more Decades of War you need to arrive at a another fucking result.

Ten years of War is a "Material Dialetics Chad Analyis"
