It's a major point as to why negotiations are barely tenable in the Israel-Palestinian conflict:
Israel is made of a majority group whose core tenets are focused on the celebration life, and doing what you can to ensure that you not only live, but live well
Palestine is made of a majority group whose core tenets are focused on the celebration of death and the after-life, in that you should be focused on attaining the most "honorable" death possible to ensure a better after-life
When the views on how to approach life and death are such polar opposites to each other, it's going to be extremely difficult, if not outright impossible to find a common ground upon which to negotiate.
Edit: Since some people are immediately taking this as a comment of meriting one religion vs another religion, see one my replies here where I explain I'm speaking on a societal level, a step above the religious level.

Seal anyone who's ever had a Reddit account in a drum, cover that drum in concrete, dump that in the bottom of disused mine, fill the rest of the mine with concrete, and leave a big sign so that future generations can know that this is not a place of honour.
