This cat wants you to taco 'bout it!

Anything cool happen recently that you want to share?

I'm finding it slightly encouraging that even though we in the West are being so heavily bombarded with pro-Israel propaganda, there have still been a lot of pro-Palestine protests. From Lawsuits to Protests, Pro-Palestinian Americans Are Pushing Biden to Pivot. Get fucked, Genocide Joe. Your own people hate you lmao.

My kid learned that if he relents the empty spoon or his cup we will return it full and eagerly gives it back now! Once he realizes that he does not need to examine the underside of the spoon or cup every time we will be free to eat with him relatively hassle free.

What animal is that? Funny lil thing

I made a batch of hummus and used a suggestion to add an iceblock in at the end, at it came out super smooth. I kinda prefer it a bit more aerated/porous rather than creamy, but it was cool to try out that trick. It's easier than shelling the chickpeas, or boiling them with bicarb to get the same texture, so I'll take keep it up my sleeve.

Also got the ingredients to make the vegan eggnog looking forward to trying that out (I rarely eat sweet stuff so it'll be a treat).

Also had some nice watermelon on Monday. I love watermelon. I know this is far from cool, but idk, it's what gets me through the week.

I baked some really nice rolls yesterday. Today I gotta bake some bread loaves. Friday / Saturday is cinnamon rolls. I'm baking a lot this week and it makes me smile.

One of my friends told me that I should talk more about my baking because I'm actually really good at it so that was nice

I'm going to go out today and buy some panettone for the local senior center I volunteer at. It's often given as a Christmas gift.

That sounds cool. I did not know about other sweet breads like that. It looks delicious.

Panettone has really become commercially popular in America during the last decade. I bought the americanized chocolate chip one because I figured that would be easier for them to chew than the candied oranges and raisins. They mostly sell them around Christmas here but, I saw some as early as mid October this year.

I always had them growing up in my immigrant household and it's always nice to share them with others. I started when I got one one year for this old Italian lady I befriended, after I asked her if she used to have them often. She was so cheerful that day.

I finally got a splinter out of my big toe after like 4 months of walking on it and my relief is immense.

    CW bloodless self-surgery

When I first got it, it went so deep into such thick skin that I had no way of getting it with any tools at my disposal. So I walked around for months feeling a little stab of pain whenever my weight shifted forward on my left foot. Yesterday I noticed that not only was that pain more pronounced lately, but also that I was clicking when I walked like a dog on linoleum. So I took a look and found this like...plug...of hard skin, this perfect little cylinder of printless flesh, and inside of it is the splinter. My body must have grown that redundant pearl of tough skin around it while slowly pushing it out over the course of 4 months.

This piece had been sort of stamped into it's seating by my constant walking on it, so I had to get my smallest, sharpest knife and slooowly work around the edges like I was trying to remove a single tile from a bathroom floor. Finally, after much cutting and prying, and a big final pull, the meandering leathery growth and the the little spike that caused it came out as one. There was no pain and no blood, not even in the deepest part of the small smooth crater in my toe now. It's all just skin, even at the point where the thing connected. Seriously, the removal site is just a smooth round divot, like someone shot a piece of thick leather with a bb gun.

I had to walk around wincing every step for months, and now with ten minutes of knife work I'm all bettercomfy

Got a raise recently. Admittedly already went nuts with the bit of extra money, but it was stuff I kinda needed for a while, like extra shirts and extra money on that fucking dental loan that's had me hurting for a couple years now.
