I mean I know Reddit is pretty bad in general save for a few subreddits, but what happened to this one? I can’t even ask for advice on false positive UA without some stuck up asshole saying I didn’t technically ask a legal question and deriding me.

Christ just help people

I’m not surprised by the responses I’ve gotten. These people are some of the most elitist I’ve come across on Reddit. It takes the mindset of a fucking cop to have that level of unwarranted arrogance

They literally come across like it’s their gift from god to be giving ‘your dumb criminal ass’ advice

I really wonder why people want to love lawyers so much in this thread. You guys really find it that far fetched that the armada of sociopaths in law can’t possibly be on reddit giving shitty advice? It’s interesting how much the effect of the glamour of social class has on even leftists.

No, they're not saying it's impossible that lawyers are shitty people, and they're not speculating that because the advice is so shitty the sub must be run by cops. They are passing along the informed position that the sub is literally run by cops.

Yes, the cop takeover was kinda a thing awhile ago. All the real lawyers fled to BadLegalAdvice to mock the terrible advice the cops were giving out.

One memorable case, OP worked in a care facility and a mentally disabled pt was raped. The OP's work demanded he submit a DNA test.

The cops were removing any response mentioning that the company asking you for DNA is explicitly illegal, that the company doesn't have your best interests in mind, that not reporting this to the cops is illegal, that whatever kind of home DNA test they're using for a rape kit probably would fuck up any court case, that it's shady AF not to go to the cops, etc.

Basically every post that wasn't "IF YOU HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE, TAKE THE TEST, YOU DIDN'T DO IT RIGHT" was gone.

Copied this from reddit, about the legal advice moderators

            :yea:

the thread. CW for pedophila (yes, a reddit mod and cop defends pedophila)

Two of the mods who deleted comments in that thread were Cypher_Blue and thepatman. They are both law enforcement officers.

Here is a prior thread where Cypher_Blue posts about performing traffic stops

Thepatman is some kind of federal law enforcement officer. I know that because in this thread I pointed out that Americans could be prosecuted in the USA for sex with minors abroad. He responded by saying he did this kind of law enforcement work for years and I was wrong that all the prosecutors he worked with would disagree with me.

Giving out legal advice to random people on the internet would completely destroy a lawyer's professional indemnity insurance at best, and straight up get them disbarred at worst if found out.

Plus, sociopaths who know the ins and outs of the law tend to have better ways of getting their rocks off than messing around with internet forums. You ever see statistics about drug and alcohol abuse in that industry? Grim shit.
