Interesting that Bonney's devil fruit just sort of happened. With what Vegapunk said about devil fruits representing dreams or whatever and Bonney wanting to get older to see the world, seems like it kinda found its way to her because of it. If all devil fruit are like that, like the gum gum getting to Luffy, fire fire fruit getting to Sabo, etc, I wonder what the implications are of Blackbeard stealing them are?

I think they are because it would seal the plot hole of luffy managing to steal the treasure of a yonko's crew from right under their noses. And there were definitely so many allusions to ace in dressrossa.

Blackbeard definitely becomes more menacing as he quite literally steals peoples dreams (killing a crewmate/his captain).

Kuma's final lines in the chapter feel suspect.

    spoiler kuma

"I would make a deal with the devil" has a double meaning since Saturn was listening into the whole conversation and St. Saturn is suspected to be a devil or at least symbolize one heavily with his Zoan like transformation.

NO BREAK next week and its looking like we are returning to egghead very soon.

Kuma is probably the best of the rare good dads of one piece. rat-salute-2

The callback to the burning of grey terminal was great imo. Becori replicating the “cleansing” policies of other countries is unfortunately a pretty direct reflection of history. It is this type of detail that really elevates one piece as leftist fiction though. Grey terminal was just explicit agit prop.

The different responses from the public in Sorbet kingdom vs Goa was really interesting to me. Goa seemed much more physically stratified by class, so that may be why the burning of grey terminal didn’t met the same public opposition that the burning of the south did in Sorbet kingdom.
