    This is a tribal identity device commonly used in the military, but I guess Disney security qualifies. The idea of a challenge coin is that any other member of the tribe can come up to you and challenge you to produce your coin. If you can't, there is some penalty, usually having to buy drinks or dinner. See, it's a useless thing that you have to keep track of, it's jingling in your pocket all the time, so it's an annoying dongle. Which is the whole idea - only a tribe member would expend the effort for something worthless in any other context.

      Nobody aside from maybe boomer vets does any of that shit. Those challenge coins are useless desk decor and that's pretty much it.
