Yeah we’re focusing on the children vs people 18 and younger, but even just prisoners vs hostages is wrong. In what way are those child prisoners not hostages?

Christ, lol. You know it's the editor making the change because he forgot to take out the "also".

It seems the screenshot was doctored or The Guardian have edited it. here is the article.

The hostages to be freed are women and children, and the Palestinian prisoners are also women and children, both sides have confirmed.

Also further up in the article is the following

The exchange of female and child hostages and prisoners was due to take place on Thursday but was postponed as last-minute logistical issues were worked out during 24 hours of frantic diplomacy.

noticed this same thing while my parents were watching the news last night. israeli "women and children" were exchanged for palestinian "women and minors". they literally dehumanize palestinians whenever possible

Archived version from yesterday has the wording from the screenshot: https://web.archive.org/web/20231123160730/https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/nov/23/israel-hamas-ceasefire-and-hostage-deal-wont-happen-before-friday-israeli-officials-say

This articles are live and often gets dozens of edits post "publication", the wording in the current version isn't how it always was. In fact an even earlier version of that article had different wording in that paragraph as well.

Who is doing the edits and why?

I wonder if you could track edits and the message they’re trying to convey against the numbers of readers of an article for each edit.

There's some headline edit tracker I've seen people use before, but I wouldn't know where to find it

That is pretty clearly an emergency edit. It doesn't flow naturally. They got called out, then tried to pretend they never actually said the fucked up shit they always say.

Also even in the edited version, I love the juxtaposition of "hostages" and "prisoners", especially knowing how many of the Palestinians are imprisoned without charges
