3-10 million early deaths in Russia alone during the 90s mortality crisis, yes.
I find it interesting that the soviet line stays relatively stable from the 60s-90s whereas the US climbs higher presumably because of the capitalist initiative to pursue unlimited growth leads to pushing more consumption even beyond what is necessary for one's health.
A high calorie diet flipped from being a signifier of wealth to being one of poverty
