Translation is what you'd expect, he wanted Assad to resign, but gets forced to resign himself.
This was the result of the left party joining the right-wing opposition to topple the never before seen coalition his "socdem" party and the greens have had with two right-wing parties. The socdems and greens are in the government but needed support from these two parties (plus the left). These 4 parties made an agreement with a bunch of neolib and privatisation policies. The left party was completely ignored and just assumed to support this option. This one policy was about a more deregulated renting market which the left party had said from the start was unacceptable, so this is them keeping their promise to not support such a government.
Pretty cool, left party doesn't let them get away with whatever. Question is what happens now. There might be an extra election this September (regular elections are 2018, 2022 etc). I'm not an expert not sure here, but I think the other option is they negotiate amongst the parties to come up with a new suggestion for a government that the PM proposes, and the parliament seats stay the same and there's no election until next year.
Then I'll finally get to :vote: for the first time against the fake socdems and 6 other right wing parties, the left is arguably just socdem but hey
