TikTok trend where gun owners LARP that someone broke into their house and they finally get to kill a person like they’ve always wanted pic.twitter.com/kWNXczAkhh— Rafi (@rafi_dot_net) June 25, 2021
100%. This attitude has been pervasive in the gun community as long as I---and most of the people in these videos---have been alive. Totally unsurprising to see people acting all cute about killing, but it is disgusting nevertheless!
I don't know if the folks running around lionizing Mao, Fidel, and Ho Chi Mein while posting guillotines and quipping about Protracted People's War really get to judge chuds indulging in violent fantasies.
But posting this shit to TikTok is extremely cringe. Even LARPers have more shame.
I think there's a material difference between fantasising about killing oppressors and those who support oppression, versus fantasizing about killing a poor dude because he tried to steal your $300 roku TV.

There is a generic desire to identify and defeat "the enemy".
Who you identify as "the enemy" says a lot about your motivations and beliefs. But the power fantasy of beating that enemy comes from the same place.
