One of my all time favorites is Nichijou but as a 30 year old dude that is really hard to bring up because the main characters are girls in high school and an 8 year old genius. It’s wholesome as fuck, absolutely hilarious and just about the most adorable good vibes show possible and I hate having to preface my love for the show not being based in wanting to fuck any of the characters.

It is specially egregious since all of Kyoto stuff is as vanilla and sanitized as you could possibly get and it says more about them when they look at a ridiculous gag comedy anime and immediately assume sexual interest. Like you could watch 30s of any Nichijou episode and immediately understand this.
There are reactionary and bad elements in anime? Sure, I can write a long paper about all the problems, nobody is unaware of them, but it is far from special or different from any other media specially western media.
There was a recent struggle session about anime already and if you are letting random people who literally are judging an entire media based on how a character looks then you will be the one losing out, they are hypocrites at the very least they will turn their back and go back to enjoy their own favorite flavor of imperialist dogshit media. This is unproductive and divisive. The only way forward on this slippery slope is to live inside a well, "yet your participate in society" meme vibe more fitting for libs then actual leftists. Everyone is well aware of anime problems and having to bend yourself backwards when you mention even the most sanitized version of it is just beyond silly.
Would you preface your desire to watch regular TV with the disclaimer you are not a pedophile incest loving reactionary fuck who masturbates to Game of Thrones and child beauty pageants? I mean it should be a given right?
I also like games, but I shouldn't have to preface that I wish every single AAA executive should face a wall right now and 80% of all Discord users need to be put in a reeducation camp before I recommend Stardew Valley to someone looking for some relaxing recreation.
