The simulation either has a sense of humor or is running out of disk space.

Bad enough that Cops is copaganda, but it also exemplifies another grotesque trend of modern television: serving as a modern-day freak show where the poor and vulnerable are publicly humiliated for entertainment.

Fuck cops. Fucked up tv show.

If you haven't yet the podcast "running from cops" is a great pod on why it's so fucked. Great to send to libs to get them to think about copaganda more, too.

For as much as the show Cops was meant as copaganda, as a kid I saw it in the opposite light. I always thought it showed cops as petty douchebags who harass people over the most minor shit. It was my introduction to the idea that cops weren't saints.

I watched about 10 minutes of an episode once. I think it was 1991. I thought to myself "This sort of tv series is stupid as fuck. It's just going to be fad..." Another ace prediction on my part. I don't even remember when I learned the term "reality tv" but it was years later.

    Cops (TV program)

Cops (stylized as COPS) [...] ran for 32 seasons, premiering on the Fox network on March 11, 1989.

    [...]

The show's last new episode aired on May 11, 2020. In June 2020, Paramount Network pulled the show from its schedule in response to George Floyd protests against the murder of George Floyd while in the custody of the Minneapolis, Minnesota Police Department, and announced its cancellation days later. The show remains in production for its international and overseas partners, and began to film anew in Spokane County, Washington with its sheriff's department at the start of October 2020.

My uncle and his wife and kids LOVE watching these reality tv cop shows. Really fuckin weird hearing a 10yo describe to the storylines. They schedule around when they air and everything.
