That's not my experience with it. As I've made it, it's basically identical to yerba maté, which is not surprising, since the plants are fairly closely related. I prefer coffee and tea, but I'd adjust pretty quickly if those were hard to get.
That's good to know that there might be some better stuff out there. Mine was Yaupon Brothers brand. Maybe I had too many expectations but I remember thinking it tasted like alfalfa hay and a bit of manure. I'm open to trying it again if I see a different kind sometime 🍵

i tried some yaupon a while back and i've only had the one kind but it was absolutely spit-it-in-the-sink foul
