His recent takes on first nations are starting to really piss me off. Like "oh I dunno did they even have like... agriculture and shit?" mfer I get the podcast is just an expression of your contempt for your audience and yourself but you can't be bothered to google anything and keep asking the same stupid shit

he's always being disrespectful and racist for a bit that isn't even very good . not to be a dick (like nick mullen) but at a certain point "leftists" listening to this pod are picking and choosing which type of harmful behavior matters to them, usually because their identities arent on the chopping block. not the best look

single datum: the only real life Cumtown fan I've ever met was an Ethiopian American guy. I still don't listen to it because I'm a Millennial with Anxiety and Depression and Imposter Syndrome, but I think people get more out of it than just "ha ha, love too have privilege."

That’s true but at this point there’s been years of marginalized people saying it’s problematic / even bigoted

But yeah I do think ppl get some more out of it, I’m just of the opinion that that “more” is hard for me to entangle from bigotry and a generally weird way of relating to people that echos bigoted forums

It's pretty telling that to back up your point you had to resort to cartoonish hysteria.

Almost as if in regular, day to day context it comes across as fuckin moronic lol

I've got a bit of a soft spot for the lad since aside from the urge to tell racist jokes ironically I'm basically the same guy.

Imagine trying to talk to real people and holding them to those standards.

"you watched 'South Park' ?! Well I'm sorry, you can't organise with me."

Real leftism is talking about how Avatar is an anti colonial masterpiece. Muppet Treasure Island is good cause it's critical of the East Indian Trading Company or whatever too. The only thing that matters is being able to make a moral judgment based on how someone entertains themselves because we are communist Tipper Gore.

im guess im happy for any marginalized person in your life (assuming you're not surrounded by white breadness) you dont talk to anyone about it but im not the one to give absolution for a show that uses the n word --slurs that are directed at my black ass. realizing that talking about it might cause a negative reaction is a start though. also if your gonna reply and talk to me about how im too sensitive about the n word being used by white people, please dont / or how you ~still connect to mullen despite him using the n word, please don't. with black people being murdered every second, i dont need that racism in my life. i dont care how you justify your past times just don't dehumanize me on the way to doing it. im not being a scold when i hate cumtown. im being a "please dont use a word that literally aided my people and is still aiding us in being lynched raped genocided enslaved and murdered" person . its not that hard to do if youre an anti racist . better yet dont bother replying at all

also as one of the only professional organizers in this community, being anti racist / anti bigotry and not consuming racist / bigoted shit is expected of organizing, especially when you're organizing with minorities and other marginalized folks. its not idpol hand wringing its acting out the solidarity you claim to uphold. but again, i wont be organizing with yall because this pick and choose mindset when it comes to slurs is what happens when you don't organize, especially with marginalized folks. hopefully you'll realize that hiding your consumption of bigoted media isn't enough to connect with marginalized comrades and is actually pretty fucking weird and sus. (like imagine you had a trans comrade and ~secretly listened to terf shit. its kinda creepy to do even if you dont tell anyone...and kinda like...especially if you dont tell people because clearly you know its problematic/ could cause a negative reaction that you're avoiding )

if you cant listen to the pod unedited with a bunch of marginalized comrades of diverse backgrounds and anti racist ideologies (not just your token black confused edgelord living embodiment of this meme: https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/dont-worry-baby-hes-just-a-nerd ) then maybe there's something wrong about it

And clearly he didn't bother with any fucking research because indigenous people knew shit about permaculture 1000 years ago that we're just figuring out now.

Edit: idk if were talking about the history guy, but i am

idk i thought it was pretty funny as someone from an Indian family, but like most "edgy" comedy the line between comedy and just hate speech is how a person interprets it :copium:

Haven’t listened lately, but not surprised. I only tuned into clips that hero’s like Dr. Richard F-N put on YouTube anyway
