hot take: sports teams/associations jumping on pride month is good because of the sheer number of chud sports fans it completely enrages
This is a fair take, though it’s still presented in a cynical way lmao. Football is GAY! I used to say that about football in a pejorative way
Now let us build a stadium so we can profit and you can displace homeless lgbt kids!
FR American handegg should be banned, especially when it involves kids. That just pisses me the fuck off when parents subject their kids to a sport that leaves permanent brain damage. Same with hockey, come at me you child murdering canooks.
I used to be a huge football fan. Went to see a local HS game. Saw a kid take a brutal hit. It was clear he was concussed. They put him back in the game, and he played a few more snaps, took a few more hits. Collapsed on the sidelines shortly after. His brain hemorrhaged, and he went into a coma. Now he's just paralyzed waist down and has very limited upper body movement. Can't speak.
The CTE stuff started to come out around that time too. I then heard about one of my pop's favorite players from the 80s taking his own life via a gunshot to the body instead of the brain, just so researchers would take a look at his brain because he suspected it was damaged and he was beginning to mentally unravel. I couldn't come to watch any football after that, especially a criminal enterprise like the NFL.
It sucks because for a lot of these kids, especially the minorities, it's still a way out.
Same with hockey
Even at the pro levels you don't have hockey players come out 20 IQ pts dumber than when they went in, you don't have hockey players killing themselves due to neurological trauma.
child murdering canooks
Youth hockey has all sorts of restrictions to protect the kid's development.
I appreciate sports for their social value, and I don't want to sound like (too much of a) a hypocrite since my main shit is combat sports where the whole point is to harm each other, but football fucking sucks ass, and the fact that something so dangerous is so deeply present in schools is very unethical to me.
America somehow just needs to get into Rugby. I'm not super familiar with the rules of either sport, but while I'm sure there are differences, premise wise they're pretty similar, but the lack of all the heavy padding discourages players from going so stupidly hard (because they'd fuck themselves up way easier).
