Meanwhile, any suggestion the West benefited from colonialism gets 5000 Pinocchios! We only did it out of the goodness of our hearts to benefit those savages, honest! They actually cost *us* money!

    Heard it all before.

This is ironically somewhat accurate, although not in the way they intended. Deng tricked the imperial core into outsourcing all their manufacturering to China, which has helped China build up their productive forces.

    Deng always wins, baby.

Tbh the west would have gotten its way if among the rising contradictions and increased capitalist presense and power the party would have lost its grip over capital or became bought out, slowly subservient to the west and corrput. And honestly that was a trend till Xi. For the Deng Gamble to work long term it means that the party should hold the control over capital and hold an even flawed ideological line without succupting to USSR mistakes . And thats easier imagined than done, and a huge struggle but the CPC seems to be in a good position after all

One of Xi’s first acts after coming into power was a widespread anti-corruption campaign. This was predictably framed by western media as somehow a bad thing. Purging corrupt revisionists is good, folks.

Big thanks owed to Comrade Nixon for opening up relations with China when it was obvious we'd never make peace with the Soviets.

The text implies something different than the headline.... "china does colonialism too" hey that's probably a good convo to have, but no it's "China is good cause of colonial Brittan, not communism"

“china does colonialism too” hey that’s probably a good convo to have

Definitely not, nope, nonono. Unless your definition of colonialism is so fucking warped the word becomes meaningless. We are already almost there with the "but mah Chinese imperialism" crowd.

It's really not the same as European colonialism but the radical liberal point of view right now demands to see it that way

Maybe...never in the form of opinion articles in mainstream bourgeois media website. Even IF this article WAS what you consider a good convo to have , you should still shit on it and not give any credence to it . Cause as a westerner in the middle of a new cold war starting and among insane amounts of sinophobia and propaganda its only a good convo to have when done privately between educated comrades as free as possible from the anti-chinese brainworms and outside the manufacturing of consent machine sphere

Imperial powers: *constructs a system in which it's impossible to succeed without cooperation with imperial powers*

Imperial powers: your success doesn't count because you cooperated with us.
