    This is ironically somewhat accurate, although not in the way they intended. Deng tricked the imperial core into outsourcing all their manufacturering to China, which has helped China build up their productive forces.

      Tbh the west would have gotten its way if among the rising contradictions and increased capitalist presense and power the party would have lost its grip over capital or became bought out, slowly subservient to the west and corrput. And honestly that was a trend till Xi. For the Deng Gamble to work long term it means that the party should hold the control over capital and hold an even flawed ideological line without succupting to USSR mistakes . And thats easier imagined than done, and a huge struggle but the CPC seems to be in a good position after all

        One of Xi’s first acts after coming into power was a widespread anti-corruption campaign. This was predictably framed by western media as somehow a bad thing. Purging corrupt revisionists is good, folks.
