    Matthew 6:24

“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

    Matthew 19:24

Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”

    2nd Thessalonians 3:10

For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.

    Luke 12:33

Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.

I can see why Aaron Sorkin-style "own them with their own words" stuff is so tempting to buy into. It really is satisfying to just shit all over some asshole by knowing what they claim to know better than they do.

Yeah dropping God is a capitalist is like t the easiest possible thing to refute even if we're, for some reason, basing out arguments about modern society on ancient scripture

There was also that time he cursed a fig tree because it wasn't in fruit and he was hungry.

Why not just make the fruit grow? Why not just go hungry like he did in the desert for 40 days/nights?

whether that worker is a fellow Israelite or a foreigner

This is a much bigger deal than it first appears, too, given how often the Bible treats foreigners like second-class citizens or worse.

      James 5:1-6

Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you.

I am once again reminding everyone that American evangelical Protestants are not God-fearing Christians but rather pagans who worship Mammon in the form of America in the form of God

And we love our fucking pagan idols don't we folks

Pretty sure this guy is blaspheming with this post

Nah, they're pretty much Calvinists with a modern flair. American Evangelical Protestants are a natural evolution of Christianity in the environment of settler colonialism.

The argument I'm making is that settler-colonialism has deformed American evangelical Protestantism into something that is not really Christian. As a result of the "limitless" bounty of the land, taken violently from the natives and African slaves, we've developed a highly-religious people who no longer worship God but the acquisition and consumption of material things. Its IMO how you get abominations of theology like prosperity gospel. American Protestants no longer have an authentic spirituality. They are driven to demonstrate their personal religiosity, devotion to "God", reflection of "God's blessing" through conspicuous consumption, the hoarding of gaudy commodities and modern pagan idols to fill the real spiritual void in their heart of hearts.

That's what Protestantism is! Prosperity gospel is the Calvinist idea that riches on Earth are proof of Salvation, and people who are poor or get conquered are clearly not saved.

Fair enough, but I'd still argue that American Protestants have evolved as very, very different beasts compared to European Protestants. Even the Germans.

In particular I'd say millennarianism plays a much stronger influence on American Protestantism than European.

Well yeah, Germany has had a different political economy for the past 5 centuries. Compare American evangelicals to Ulster Presbyterians or Afrikaners, and you'll see a lot more similarities.

Edit: Also, keep in mind "God is with Us" (as he was with our fathers) was a popular Prussian and later Nazi slogan. Any Chud in Ulster, Virginia, Queensland, Texas, or Florida from 1650 to 2021 could easily relate to that. But tell me again about how American evangelicals are uniquely "not Christian" compared to other Prots.

actually you're a cuck if you believe the public ideology and can't comprehend the private ideology (i.e the material conditions that benefit their slave states)

also reminds me of this quote I found a bit ago:

"The editors of both Luke and Acts see (correctly) that the Christian image of the Trinity is masculine and assumes a certain social order on earth (later thinkers were to draw the conclusion that the monarchia of the Father assumes a political monarchy as the ideal on earth).”

Not really, God isn't paying anyone a wage and doesn't take surplus value. If he owns the whole universe then he's been letting us use it more or less for free, he isn't making any money off us that's for sure.
