Seriously, I have friends who live near sk, but our schedules basically never align. We have to plan something out weeks in advance for anything to happen. Even when both of us have weekends off. How do people do this?

You see, I try that, but it's always "this week was too draining", "I'm with my SO" or "I'm visiting home" or something like that...
Might just be a disconnect. I have no idea what you current situation is, but it sounds like your friend has a lot going on. Try looking up if you have a hobby shop or cafe nearby that has boardgame nights. Might be able to find some people to hang out regularly there.
Oh yeah it's definitely easier if their SO is part of your circle of friends and/or your friend is willing to take their SO with them to hang out
A big thing about my group chat is that its open. Helps that all of us are weirdos, so guys night is basically half women.
