    I feel like there's some big fucking consent issues here considering that that blood is going into another person's fucking body!

      If the alternative is blood not going into another person's body, I think it's worth considering. The "gay blood is poison" rule is being phased out, here's a statement from the red cross

      The American Red Cross believes blood donation eligibility should not be determined by methods that are based upon sexual orientation. We are committed to working with partners toward achieving this goal.

      It used to be no gay sex for 9 months (maybe 6? I dont remember) but they've reduced it to 3 months because it's completely arbitrary, and they perform tests either way. If you've been having lots of anonymous sex or have contracted AIDS, then don't donate, but I don't think sharing a night with your long time partner should prevent you from saving a life
