    I've read about Soapy Smith before and the part that really gets me is how he seemed to believe his own lies. Like, he was a cheat, swindler, conman, etc. He was proud of being an excellent cheat, swindler and conman. But he really believed that he wasn't, despite the fact that he clearly was. He thought of himself as a legitimate businessman. I can't wrap my head around that.

    And then there was the city of Skagway, which was entirely set up by Soapy's men as a con. People would arrive, get off the boat, and every single business in town was a scam. Pretty impressive if you think about it.
