We all know the white guys who call themselves history buffs but only have a limited knowledge of WWII which is based on history channel documentaries.

Trueee!!! Even though the way that we waited until the last moment to join in was rather scam-like

I dunno. I wonder if japan hadn't attacked us if we would have got involved. I know we fucked around with ww1 but we liked both sides of the war too much to pick one to start.

The US was already partially involved before Pearl Harbor, even. We were lend leasing stuff and Roosevelt was firmly with the Allies. It's hard to say if outright war was inevitable, but sending weapons to the UK and Soviets was arguably the biggest contribution from the US anyway.

This is always the very first thing a self-proclaimed WWII buff will point out. Never fails.

Not saying you're one of them, but I've just noticed that the type of faux history buff this topic is referencing loves to drop that "USA wouldn't have gotten involved if not for Pearl Harbor" fact like it isn't common knowledge.

Is it common knogle that we were and still are mostly more idologocally aligned with the natzis than any other group in the war?

Hell no, and they never mention that part.
