Written by Ira Levin, "ex" CIA agent, most famous for Rosemary's Baby. Levin gets to use his CIA knowledge of what Nazis in South America were getting up to (of course without ever once mentioning the CIA, who were doing all of this and up to their eyeballs in Nazis). There is a scene where one character rattles off a bunch of Nazi atrocities, and damn if they don't sound just like what the CIA was getting up to (testing on unwitting subjects, injecting prisoners with toxins, etc).

It's funny how good all of these old Hollywood stars are at playing Nazis. Very natural, gotta say.

Anyway, really good movie. Similar to reading Cordwainer Smith, all of Ira Levin's work (Ninth Configuration anyone?) feels like a peak into a true cold war psychos brain.
