The US really didn't want to do an imperialism in New Orleans after Katrina
Right? There is a huge amount of confusion between anti-war and anti-imperialist messaging. Anti-imperialism is not anti-war, although anti-war can be anti-imperialism at times. And use of military to do a thing gets massively confused with imperialism because of the confusion with anti-war and military occupation.
Yeh it's pretty understandable for people to not get the difference, especially if they are from, say, the US, since 99% of its military deployments were that.
Question is, how to fix?
With military force. :tankie:
(But actually yeah, I think emphasizing the difference between antiwar and anti-imperialism at every opportunity, person by person. There's no quick fix.)
NGL being the "akchually this war isn't imperialism" reminds me of libs so it's not my priority to go there.
I mean, yeah. But also AES states are definitely going to get dragged into wars in our lifetime and libs are definitely going to do the "See! they're imperialist!" argument.
Also spreading socialism constantly gets called imperialism as if every socialist country is a puppet state of whatever the largest socialist country in the world is. That got thrown at the USSR a lot and it will be thrown at China in coming years.
