Only a few hours in, and this is my first time playing skyward sword. Enjoying it, but man the one-to-one motion mapping on the combat makes it annoying at times. Or rather the fact the enemies are designed that you need a specific slash to take them out depending on position, and it's often not obvious which one.
I noticed someone in the gaming press panned this as a bad game, and a stagnation for the series that should be forgotten. I can being upset with the controls, but it definitely seems like step forward for the franchise. Like it's not the leap that BOTW was, but I think this is the first time they had a stamina system, and the way you traverse definitely seems like an early version of BETH'S traverse anywhere system. Also the one-to-one motion controls was cool experiment even if it didn't persist.
In order to move the camera you have to press a button and push the thumbstick if you're in controls mode, so not great. Seems like the optimal way to play is with motion controls (I.e. joycons separated).
as @hexaflexagonbear said you gotta use two buttons to move the camera, but the control in handheld play ok so far.
