Yeah, it's not a problem when foreign countries display things for an American audience over their own native language. There is no consumption or controlling going on there.
Same people talking shit about China restricting kids to only two hours a day (if that's even real).
Gaming isn't banned in China? Can't believe Xi still calls himself a communist smh my head
China is just producing a thousand different variations on Journey to the West and Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
Like, they seem alright by game standards. But it is literally just higher and higher rez versions of the exact same story over and over again.
My favorite thing to do is tell these people is that Tencent didn't buy, the company sold. It's not fucking Galactus coming through hoovering up all your favorite media intellectual properties
If you want dev creative freedom, the best thing you can do for them is decouple their livelihood from that big bad profit motive
hastily shoving entire modding and hobbyist and demo communities under bed
Koei made me learn about the late Han dynasty and the three kingdoms who fought to control China. I've been brainwashed!!
Fun bit, become a history teacher and try to teach chinese history in your american school and watch the PTA get flooded with pissed off chud parents who don't want their kids learning no goddamned commie history!!
Funnily enough, Texas is trying to ban teaching about critical race theory, ostensibly because those chud parents became legislators
Quelle surprise. I'm sure they're talking about how it's a country wide effort at the national level to divert attention from the cracking dam that is labelled 'America', and not just shitting on people in Texas in general
Yeah it's not like there aren't already a hundred modern/sci fi military shooters with incredibly unsubtly done Chinese antagonists or anything
when would tiananmen square ever come up in a game? like genuinely? unless its a very specific time period and a game taking place in china around the same time, when would it EVER come up again? gamers just...why
I think they're saying a game about that time period in China won't happen
noooo, that profit motive was only supposed to hurt black people :angery:
Chinese have been cheating and stealing IP for years
You stole my idea! YOU STOLE MY IDEA! YOU STOLE MY IDEA
I'M TELLING THE TEACHER ON YOU

Trying to imagine Tianamen Square in an American video game, and I can't picture it without thinking you're (a) some kind of ninja robot wizard who beats a line of tanks single handedly and defeats Communism or (b) doing an intro cutscene where you flee the fighting, go underground, do ninja robot wizard training, and come back to Defeat Communism.
Honestly amazed some indie developer hasn't done this. Definitely something you could GoFundMe on Steam and get a million dollars to not make.
