It looks like someone wanted to do King of the Hill, but brought in the design direction from Seventh Heaven.

It is basically a far less funny version of King of the Hill

Jesus Christ is a recurring character

I mean, that's a recurring trope that doesn't have to be terrible on its face. South Park had a lot of fun with it, for instance. Hell, Family Guy had a lot of fun with it.

But I'm guessing this show wants to use Jesus like Home Improvement used Tim Allen's next door neighbor.

Bob's Burgers is the superior animated family show

I watched this scene at least 10 times before I stopped laughing at it

Edit: nevermind, watched it and laughed again. "Who raised you?"

        It's reflective of the culture.

The abstraction of the Simpsons was supposed to employ this "everyman" minimalism. It was egalitarian.

Family Guy was a cynical parody of the family. Everything was supposed to be absurd.

The last one seems like a Ben Garrison style of cartoony realism. Like, it's either wish fulfillment or aspirational.

The best part is that Duncanville is produced by Mike Scully, the man responsible for Simpsons seasons 9 - 12 (which I still like, but you can easily tell were basically winding down for cancellation)

So Fox literally went and said "Let's get that guy from the most contentious moment of The Simpsons and give him another animated sitcom"

The animation actually looks nothing like that. Still arguably bad tho

It looks like they went for an "absurdist" style, but the show itself isn't absurd at all, so it just feels like a clash

It reminds me of Squidbillies for some reason, except not shitty enough to be endearing

    It seems today

    that all you see

    are chuddy cartoons

    that make your eyes bleed

also, note how the gorl's hair gets darker with every iteration. Not sure what this means, but it must mean something.
