    i mean yeah this cuts through to authorial intention behind the alterations to history, but as the video-maker said at the beginning 'true to the character' only applies if you agree with Scott's thesis of Napoleon as this dweeby idiot

    history's interface with that depiction makes it disingenuous when it simply is serving to make Napoleon look bad and brutish. Austerlitz is depicted as this great cruelty in the film that didn't happen. attributing fake atrocities to someone is certainly an artistic choice, but its indefensible to anyone that doesn't subscribe to that hardline view on the figure
