I'd be willing to part with some information that could prove useful to you here - for a small fee, of course. :quark:

Usually when you see him it's Data. Data is the main cast member who is a robot, Lore is sort of the prototype and they look the exact same and are played by the same dude. Lore shows up three times and two of them he knocks Data out and takes his place for nefarious reasons.

Oh, Lore is also online friends with a giant crystal that strips all life from a planet to eat. Our hero decides it's best to let this thing live.

DS9 is supremely good. I need to make something from my star trek cook book so I can recreate Quarks hospitality.

I made hasperat before, which is basically a tortilla wrap with veggies but it looked screen accurate.

I think a character made a comment about "pickling the meat" for hasperat, and that it was an "acquired taste." I imagine it has quite a strong flavour.

:im-vegan: , I basically just made a Bahn mi wrap but a bit different.

Ah, fair enough. Turns out that it only required brine, so perhaps real hasperat could be vegan.

Anyway, congrats on your creation. Do vegan gagh and you'll be my hero.

I worked at a vegan restaurant and whoever was cooking would make up whatever the special was that day so I did Hasperat. Didn't say it was from Trek and told the wait staff to say it's Bajoran food and not explain further.

Soba noodles kinda look like Gagh, I could probably get the look right.

I was shocked and appalled to learn that I cannot buy a mug that says "don't talk to me until I've had my raktajino."

Raktajino is probably also alcoholic. It's thought to be the Klingon liquor Ra'taj and coffee. I can absolutely see most of the DS9 staff drinking in the morning pretty often

Someone made a pretty good case that Odo is a fascist, or at least a fascist collaborator. Then again, the channel turned out to be pretty lib, so idk. Still hard to like him like I used to.

I've seen it. He isn't wrong and Odo was definitely let off the hook too easy for participating in the occupation. Damar and Garak never seem to get those criticisms and tend to be seen as fully redeemed by the end despite being objectively worse people by a wide wide margin. Odo is also basically a really smart baby which seems to be forgotten, he doesn't really get how society in general works for a good while. A lot of the shittier things he did was more motivated by coercion and naivete. I don't really see the value in needing to categorize every fictional character as either 'bad' or 'good' based on audience moral judgment. You don't have to like Odo as a person because he isn't real, as a character he's rich, well written and supremely acted.

Also Renegade Cut's Voyager video is awful. Basically says it was a great show cause it had untapped potential and cause Kate Mulgrew was a woman. If you don't tap that potential then it isn't good.

Agreed, a mediocre show with a lot of potential is still a mediocre show. I can enjoy Voyager by watching an episode and muttering, "Imagine if they'd done THIS...", but I wouldn't recommend the show to anyone based on that. If anything, the great production quality, big budget, and (mostly) competent cast made the utter lack of imagination from the writers & producers that much more frustrating.

What's funny is that, thanks to TNG, my young self was so used to seeing POC's and women in positions of authority, that having a black/female lead in DS9/Voyager didn't feel like a huge leap.

Yeah, it's super easy to see a really great show within Voyager that they just didn't make

He's a story of how a fascist society can take man's innate sense of morality and justice and corrupt it. Once shown a better way he converts against the fascists basically immediately
