Doesn't a good proportion of cannabis in US that has been illegally grown come through Mexican cartels?

Oh I don't fucking know. Maybe? Probably? That would be less good then probably. I'm not really familiar with the conditions of production in Mexican cartels.

Supposedly pretty grim. There is a persistent style of article I stumble upon that talks about how unethical it is to consume drugs sourced from the global south.

"If you do coke you are not vegan, actually."

That wouldn't surprise me. There's money to be had at it. Shame those same articles never ask whether the systems that make drug production in the global south for profit brutal also exist elsewhere.

IMO the conditions of the production wouldn't have to be bad for the industry as a whole to be bad, just looking at the violence needed to protect the operation would be enough to lead you to that conclusion.

I always bought from an Italian dude who had a greenhouse in his back yard, where he grew 95% weed and 5% tomatoes. He made some kickass tomato sauce that he gave to his neighbours, and they were none the wiser. They just thought he really loved spaghetti.
