    The stat the US uses is "The homeownership rate is the proportion of households that is owner-occupied. It is computed by dividing the number of households that are occupied by owners by the total number of occupied households."

    65% of homes are occupied by the owner. So if you rent a room with 15 other people in a slumhouse, owned home.
