    Hexbear loves making fun of liberalism, and I'm ambivalent on that (my IRL leftist groups don't do that).

    But one thing that pulls me towards the Hexbear side is the way liberal governments treat the concepts of rights as a moral figleaf with no practical effect.

    It used to be – just ten years ago, just ten – that privacy was said to be a pillar of enlightened republics. Privacy, free speech, voting... it was one of the main things. Then in practice it turned out to be "Do you care about privacy really, in practice?" "lolno, we'll suck up all the data we can get"

    They'll still use 'human rights' as a rhetorical point to seem superior to the rest of us, but outside of rhetoric they don't actucally do human rights.
