A scientist on a podcast recommended an easy way to stop covid a year ago--print up billions of paper self-test spit-test strips and use them daily if you think you have covid and just quarantine it out if so. We have the technology to make these tests at 95%+ accuracy and for pennies.
So I went looking to buy them, because it's a good idea and surely I can buy 1000 covid tests for $100 right? Nope, that's not the world we get to have under capitalism. The first test I saw is individually wrapped in a box. You have to swab your nose and mail it in to a lab and you get your results in two days.
We have wweaponized thehealthcare system against ourselves. :agony-shivering:
My friend actually just said this too! Pretty wild that availability is dropping while cases are going up
My office tests us weekly which is cool. What’s not cool is that we just had a positive case today and the employee was allowed to show up maskless to be then told that she was positive and before she was sent home she was allowed to just walk around and joke about testing positive with everyone while still being maskless. What’s the point of testing if you’re literally going to downplay the test results when you get them? Our “covid czar” explained that her score of whatever was fairly low so like no big deal right guys? Jesus Christ. No one else is being sent home
Damn thAt is someone I would like to bash in the head I know a guy like that and If the law's arm was not so gd long I would bash the fuckers head in with a brick on a stick
My area is still easy but I'll try to keep an eye out if testing starts to dry up. Not surprised by this at all, gotta keep up the appearance that the vaccines have fixed everything and it's time to go back to partying.
Completely idiotic unforced error. Testing is the next most powerful tool we have behind only the vaccines.
Alberta is stopping most of it's testing in two weeks and at the end of August (right before school starts, conveniently) the only way to get a test is going to be if at a hospital after you've been admitted or a doctor's office. You also don't need to quarantine or wear a mask if you do test positive anymore. Vaccination rates are about 50% in all of rural alberta, as low as 40% in some areas. Buckle up folks.
can't wait for those stupid fucks to pour into B.C. and give me covid too
They're more available at pharmacies but you have to pay for them, so they're far less accessible.
