Walt: Ah actually, I’m still wondering how I ended up here, but yes. I can’t imagine we strike each other as criminals.
Gale: Well, there’s crime and then there’s crime, I suppose. I’m definitely a libertarian. Consenting adults want what they want, and if I’m not supplying it, they will get it somewhere else.

I suppose you could interpret that to be "people should have bodily autonomy" rather than "i wanna fuck kids and not pay any taxes"

Gale was always supposed to be some random and nice weirdo, definitely an anarchomonarchist or some bullshit. Or a "know your enemy" type of guy.

Gale shared with Walt that part of his reason for being a meth cook was that he was a libertarian. His car has a Ron Paul sticker on it. I believe he may have been a vegan for animal-NAP reasons.

Interesting that Gale says he's "definitely a Libertarian" when he's introduced.

I guess libertarian as in the anarchist meaning, rather than the cringe ancap meaning? Like he's also a vegan and a caring person (who just happens to help get thousands hooked on meth) and that doesn't really play into the ancap ideology or stereotype. Like if he was an ancap, surely he would be talking about "business is business, supply and demand" etc. Also ancaps absolutely do not read any kind of academic text lol

Pretty sure Gale is a libertarian in the "government has no right telling businesses what to do kind"

but he also doesn't seem to be that political and his political views might just be how he justifies his drug manufacturing to himself

he certainly stuck me as laidback and not that radical either way

He definitely meant the ancap variety of "libertarian" -- if you look at his car outside the dry cleaning business in S3:E8 at 3:52, you can see Gale's Subaru has a Ron Paul bumper sticker.
