Boxing gives you two giant shields on the ends of your arms to protect your head which isn’t a 1 to 1 translation into actual street fighting plus it’s way more risky to try to implement. Sure, it is epic and looks cool to punch a fash in the face for a KO but if you really want to win a fight with no rules IRL learn b jiu jitsu

Wrong. In an actual fight bjj is useless compared to mma. Your are just gonna get knocked out with 0 defense trying to take ur opponent down if they know mma and you only know bjj. If you want to fight on the street optimal judo or bjj won’t save u vs someone who can grapple as well. They are half the equation, grappling. But u also need Muay Thai to be able to not immediately get koed by someone who knows that they are doing. If you face someone with good tdd like a wrestler who knows Muay Thai. Your bjj ass is getting koed and quick. Your not taking them down. To beat up facists u need Muay Thai plus bjj which is just mma lol. The fact that you people try to write of striking as not useful for self defense is quite frankly delusional. I am speaking as someone with like 6 years tkd 8 years Muay Thai experience as well as 4 years mma experience and some bjj as well. Vs someone with a lot of muay Thai boxing or any other striking martial art that’s legit in the street you’ll literally get knocked out with a single punch if you’ve never done Muay Thai boxing etc. Mma sure is sloppy bjj and sloppy Muay Thai but it can beat both of them. Jack of all trades master of none but gives you the best chance fighting anyone.

Ehh, the bjj doesn't work in the streets meme is over rated.

While the game plan of BBJ in a competition context is diffrent that the streets the set of skills are useful in the context of street engagement.

A person with a strong set of skills related to the mechanics of moving bodies is better prepared to handle altercations. Plus having a set of skills for assaultive behavior managment that doesn't look like felony assault is specifically usefull in the context of street battles with cameras.

Bjj def does work in the streets. Mma just works better because it’s bjj plus Muay Thai. If you are against someone who has good tdd and can strike as someone who just knows bjj you are fucked if your similar skill leveled. Bjj will beat Muay Thai obviously if both fighters are on the same level most of the time but someone who is good at bjj and Muay Thai will be able knock someone out who just is good at bjj if they are the same skill level in bjj. If they are on the same level the guy who only knows bjj will not be able to get his opponent down. And he will be a fish out of water striking and quickly get koed. But let’s say that the bjj only guy pulls gaurd. All the guy who knows how to strike gotta do is kick you in the leg if you pull gaurd until ur leg is shattered because bjj doesn’t know how to check a kick. And then get soccer kicked in the face. Or just ground and pound through gaurd like the bjj only guy has 0 striking defense on the ground. Obviously if the bjj only guy is a lot better at bjj than the one who knows Muay Thai a lot of the time he will win. I’m just saying that only learning grappling is a really limiting mindset in martial arts. Someone who knows how to elbow and punch well while grappling on the same level as his opponent is gonna absolute ly destroy them because the grappling only person has 0 striking defense and no grappling advantage. Bjj+striking is objectively superior to bjj. So I hate when people act like bjj is the end all be alone and the best way to defend urself when no it’s not. Mma is. The best bjj professionals on the planet would quickly be beaten by the best mma fighters on the planet in an actual fight because guess what bjj has notoriously terrible at actually taking ur opponent down look at Gilbert burns adcc 3rd place vs Kamaru usman a d2 wreslting champion. Kamaru out grappled burns and forced him to strike and beat him. Wrestling +Muay Thai will always beat bjj. The bjj guy only has a chance if he can strike too. Demain maia who is like considered the best bjj guy at takedowns in mma shoots 0/20 on guys with high level wrestling like usman or woodley. Sakuraba was the Gracie killer because he was a great wrestler and a great striker for his time and simply outstruck them standing or on the feet. Or just straight up submitted them because he was a savage. Anyways I’m just saying mma is superior to bjj in terms of self defense. Mma is the closest you’ll get to an actual fight. And guess what bjj guys lose all the time they get submitted koed and decision like everyone else. Bjj alone is a great martial art for self defense, but mma is objectively superior for self defense.

You say stuff like that, and I agree. However I am talking about the context.

I had a bjj coach that had a mental breakdown. Guess how many people it took to restrain him? More than they had. Cops couldn't reatrain him without resorting to tazers. Obviously if he was black it would have been different. But you can see how the ability to shrimp out and run comes into play.

If we are dealing with the random Proudboy in the street the ability to movie their body, disenguage, and not be photographed punching them are all skills well worth the time. While a good striking background is important, in the current context I couldn't without reservation say it a high prority use of time.

Yeah literally. Like the quickest and safest way to defend yourself is a good hit to the solar plexus which the average person absolutely could not defend, and its over. Taking it to the ground and wrapping somebody up might be possible in a 1 on 1, but if they have a knife or if you're against a group like these guys were you're going to get fucked up no matter what ground position you've managed to secure. Striking defence, footwork, well-practised basic jabs and the cardio to run away would go a lot further towards protecting yourself in a lot more scenarios than even the most immaculate BJJ form.

Lol this guy gets it. If your a trained fighter it only takes 1 punch to knock someone down or out to the head body or leg against someone who has no training. And against multiple guys bjj is useless. Striking much better for that. And with a knife. Ur much better off trying to punch them than grappling them and making it easy to gut ur belly like a fish.

And against multiple guys bjj is useless.

Against multiple people, just about any fighting style is useless. The best technique against a crowd is parkour. The second best is to hit the first one in the crowd so fast and so hard that it sets everyone else back, giving you a chance to run away.

striking is a lot better there’s a video of a Russian proffesional boxer knocking out 10 guys in seconds who tried to rape his girlfriend. Bjj has a lot less chance vs multiple people Striking can easily beat multiple untrained people if you Are experienced

Right, so if you're a professional boxer running up against schlubs, you might have a chance.

How many professional boxers are currently in the audience?

Everything about the boy's form is wrong. His stance is comically wide, which is then not at all helped by him lifting his back foot off the ground for his big, wide, slow haymaker. He prepares to throw the punch by not just telegraphing it, but by also removing his other arm from in front of him. The chud is at this moment, absolutely unguarded, off balance, and - as you'll notice if you watch his feet - totally out of position to recover. He might not have even gone down if he had a foot to stand on.

Anyway, basic rules: keep your feet under you, your chin tucked, and your arms up.

I still think about how a lot of resistance to serious white nationalist mobilizations in the future is 100% going to involve serious pushback from local minority street gangs. I have to wonder if there are any sets out there who go out in black bloc. I remember as a kid being around some of those types and despite being assholes they really did not like racists. One time we had this white kid transfer into our school who just ran around calling everyone a wetback (including me) and he got dropped just like this
