well, i got essential "the taliban is worse for women and if we were to leave then it would be more oppressive than if america was there" out of him eventually, after much prying.
he was way more left (i think he was like a left anticommunist) when he was in college, so i think theres just a lot of belief that this is just my youthful naivete (im 28, not in my teens though).
