ex-left

of course the woke middle class DSA were always going to be class traitors, this is just telling on themselves and their petit Karen narcissism.

Nuclear plants bring wealth and meaning to their host communities. They are American industrial cathedrals.

Churches, the harbingers of genocide, only bring theft and rape from soulless abominations like this PMC parasite who bravely sucks blood from his "host community" (i.e humans who aren't reptiles that glow in the dark)

But the left, aside from a powerless few, does not care for that vision and is in open conflict with the material reality upon which it relies.

No, the people of the world are in conflict with the material reality of reptilian class traitors like this nerd enabling our world being ruined.

Peoples' water, land, their very homes have been poisoned by industrial chemicals for the benefit of these woke labor aristocrats who LARP as comrades. This guy literally talks about art and philosophy on his podcast...the most worthless human beings in history are scoffing at the working class wanting to have clean water. Ironic that these middle class dorks who soyface at Mark Fisher are literally the "vampire's castle"!

The PMC correctly sees the violence done by capitalism as happening to other people. The price of indigenous genocide is a fair price for these soulless class traitors to pay so they can play Nintendo and soyface about art and philosophy on their woke podcast

Nuclear energy is probably the best bet we have for large scale reduction of CO2 emissions, at least in the short term. Obviously ideally we'd want all renewable but it would be a large shift to make up for the power generation of fossil fuels. And then you can get into the environmental effects of hydro power. I don't think we have the time to be picky about what non-GHG power generation we switch to, that would be an issue once we're past reaching carbon neutral/zero.

Under capitalism nuclear sucks more because cost cutting leads to ignoring regulations. But as a power source nuclear is very safe, the issues with nuclear waste could be mitigated by using it in isotope production or in depleted fuel reactors. But these options aren't used in capitalism because they're cost negative.

Yep, this is all true speaking as a power engineer.

Only issue is we don't have time to go through the typical process of building nuclear plants even if we started tomorrow. Reactors typically take a little less than a decade, and we'd need to plan likely over 15 of them across the US in order to have any chance of avoiding climate apocalypse (assuming the rest of the world follows suit AND the world assists the global south in setting up their own).

Yet another reason that this NEEDS to be the decade of collapse for the American empire and that NEEDS to correspond with a revolution that carries militant attitudes towards the main contributing segments of our system that are sending us to climate hell.

All those movies where the world sees a huge asteroid coming and works together to build some ridiculous future tech - well that moment is right now and we're clearly gonna miss it.

How many degrees C increase will we see before REAL drastic action, something light years away from "EV's will change everything!"? My guess is 3 degrees when we're already so far off the singularity cliff that half the world has already migrated.

Wait, are they doing this to make the left anti-nuclear? Oh no, someone’s gonna take this bait :ohnoes:

Mostly because we can't build them at scale. The Vogtle 3&4 have been under construction for 15 years, for instance. And they were supposed to be the new gold standard for nuclear energy.

That's not BMC's point. He's ranting about Idpol shit. But simply from a functional perspective, by the time we're finished nuclearizing our grid we'll have busted through the next two degree marks on our way to +4C
