ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Delivering another blow to what's left of former Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s legacy, New York’s new governor acknowledged on her first day in office that the state has had nearly 12,000 more deaths from COVID-19 than Cuomo told the public.
"As governor of the State of New York I did an excellent job of handling the covid emergency. And - this is important - I gave people hope. The media is reporting that covid deaths were undercounted by 12,000 people without context. If you do not have the appropriate context - how can you make a fair judgment? You can't. You cannot. It is simply impossible."
