It is my right to film you committing crimes, thereby endangering your security in the future. What do you mean I sound like a cop?

Look, I want socialism and I don't like Nazis but I also don't want to look uncool like skinny teenagers in black yelling ACAB. Is there some solution where I can both be against Nazis and maintain a relative level of cultural affectation that my peer group perceives as cool?

It's a purposeful consequence of liberal colleges. Even working basic news jobs requires an expensive degree.

I have like 6 years of experience freelance writing and I don't even qualify to go near their temples.

it's not the primary thing they do though since 85% of their funding doesn't directly come from reactionaries

Yeah true, I dunno if it was necessary to bring it up, but the post reminded me of it and I got salty.

notably the absolute worst chapo takes of all time were in an ep Taibbi guested on

God, that one was so fucking awful. One of the few episodes that I actively turned off in disgust, rather than just zoning out and doing other things like I usually do when they're not fantastic. Absolute garbage-brained takes on a whole variety of shit.

I forgot that was a Taibbi ep. I have been trying to give both Glenn and Taibbi the benefit of the doubt for their past good reporting but they just keep getting worse and worse. :deeper-sadness:

Citations Needed just did an episode that covered the same ground and made basically the same points. They did it better, because they're a lot more deliberate and polished than Chapo, but I don't think there was anything too out there if you go back and listen.

Have they? The closest I recall was them asking "does toppling statues accomplish anything significant," and even then their answer was "maybe?"

Yeah, pretty understandable to not want to be filmed when it'll be used at best to harass you passively through the media, and at worst to harass you actively by the police.

Matt Taibbi's crypto-fascist partner Ford Fischer does "independent journalism" that is literally celebrated by the CIA's Political Instability Task Force https://hexbear.net/post/135336

Can someone explain the no photography thing to me? Americans are some of the most constantly photographed people in the history of humanity just by walking around. What extra threat do journalists pose by taking pictures of an event? Shouldn’t people be courting photojournalists to do counter propaganda?
